| Up to 5,500 work permits can be issued in 2011 for foreign workers in Romania |

The government approved a Government Decision providing for the release of 5,500 work permits in 2011 for foreigners who wish to become employed or render services in Romania, under the provisions of Government Emergency Ordinance (OUG) no. 562007.
The types and number of work permits than can be granted to foreign workers are the following:
Works permits for permanent workers – 4,000
Work permits for deployed workers – 600
Work permits for seasonal workers – 200
Nominal work permits – 100
Work permits for temporary workers – 100
Work permits for athletes – 300
Work permits for crossborder workers – 200
The decision adopted by the Government stipulates that, if the number of applications for work permits is higher than the established number, it can be increased by a Government Decision (HG) based on a justification document, at the proposal of the Labour Ministry.

2,102 work permits for foreigners who wish to become employed or render services in Romania were issued in 2011, by 20th November, under the provisions of Government Emergency Ordinance (OUG) no. 562007.
