The latest competition organsied by RRI was won by Italians Sabrina Cerini and Marco Sanmartino, who spent the first day of their Romanian holiday discovering various tourist attractions in the mountains of Gorj county, southern Romania.
Sabrina is 22 and graduated from the foreign languages faculty of Pavia University. She said she found the cultural tourism facilities on offer in Gorj county particularly interesting and she especially enjoyed Constantin Brancusi’s famous art works “Gate of the Kiss” and “Table of Silence”, in the town of Targu Jiu. Sabrina also recalled how much she enjoyed the parade of folk bands, during the 8th International Folklore Festival currently taking place in the town.
Marco is a 27 years-old architect and was especially delighted with the dynamic schedule the organizers of the contest put together for the two of them, since he his an outdoor pursuits aficionado. Here is what Marco told us, after a few days spent in Gorj county:
“We enjoyed river rafting and diving and we had a lot of fun. The mountain scenery is gorgeous. I had the chance, for the first time in my life, to enjoy the excitement of diving from a height of 7 metres. I was a little bit scared, but I worked up the courage to jump and it was a truly unforgettable adventure.”

Sabrina and Marco have already started the second leg of their Romanian holiday, in Arges county. Here are Sabrina’s first thoughts on the town of Curtea de Arges:
“It is a beautiful town, boasting many tourist attractions. Soon, we are going to visit a monastery in the area. We are staying at a lovely hotel and the people taking care of us are very nice and hospitable. We are delighted with the entire holiday.”
