The cathedral was built between 1902- 1904 and four bells were installed in the late 1904 in the cathedral’s two belfries. Metropolitan bishop Andrei Saguna was the one who had the idea of building an Orthodox cathedral in Sibiu. The cathedral is located near the historical squares of the old center of Sibiu. It was consecrated on April 30th 1906 and has been restored on several occasions so far; it is now boasting a beautiful neo-Byzantine painting. You can enter the cathedral through a portico with three semi-circular openings. The inside of the cathedral observes the Byzantine tradition.
