July’s QSL features traditional households in the Romanian villages where you can find various installations. The top left picture shows a plum brandy distillery with hydraulic wheel from Sarbesti, Gorj county (in the south west of Romania).
In the top right image you can see a hydraulic installation originating from the village of Sarbi, in Maramures county. It contains a mill machine which used the force of water to process wool. The same hydraulic installation includes a plum brandy pot made of copper metal sheet placed on a brick head. The same picture also shows a thresher powered by a vertical hydraulic wheel.
The bottom left image represents the household of a fisherman specific to the Danube Delta villages, while the bottom right picture shows a household-workshop for hemp processing. The devices included in the household illustrate the hemp cultivation procedure and techniques. The household dates back to the second half of the 19th century.
