Romania has to boost exports and open to other markets as well, a move that will be made by all EU countries, said the Romanian economy minister, Varujan Vosganian. Romania’s exports stand at 45 billion euros and three quarters of the exported products are manufactured- almost 50% are automobiles, car parts and other components, the economy minister added. He also said that Romania’s exports amount to 12-15% of the economic turnover.

On the last day of his visit to Morocco, the last leg of a tour which also included Egypt, the Romanian foreign minister, Titus Corlatean, on Saturday met with his Moroccan counterpart, Saad Eddine El Othman. The two officials underscored the need for developing the traditional relations between Romania and Morocco in various fields and boosting bilateral dialogue at government and parliamentary levels. FM Corlatean also talked with Moroccan PM Abdelilah Benkirane about boosting cooperation mainly in the economic field. According to the Romanian Foreign Ministry bilateral trade exchanges have increased more than 10 times in the past 8 years reaching almost 500 million dollars in 2012.

The 20th edition of the International Theater Festival is in full swing in the central Romanian city of Sibiu. The festival will include more than 350 events- theater plays, dance and circus shows, concerts, exhibitions and conferences which will be attended by artists from 70 countries. The guest of honor of the festival is France. More than 300 volunteers, mostly Romanian, have got involved in the organization of the festival. The Sibiu International Theater Festival is the 3rd largest festival in Europe after those in Edinburgh and Avignon.

The German ambassador to Bucharest, Andreas von Mettenheim, on Saturday participated in Blaj, in central Romania, in the opening of a new production unit for car parts of the German consortium Bosch, the investment standing at almost 50 million euros. The German diplomat said the visit the Romanian PM would pay to Germany on Monday and Tuesday is very important, and that the talks of the Romanian PM and the German chancellor Angela Merkel will focus on international topical issues, political issues and the German- Romanian relations, mainly the economic ones.

The Romanian boxer Bogdan Juratoni on Saturday won the silver medal at the European Boxing Championships hosted by Minsk. He was defeated by Irish Jason Quigley in the final of the Men’s Middle 75 kg category. Juratoni also won bronze at the World Boxing Championships in 2011 hosted by Baku (Azerbaidijan). The last European boxing title won by a Romanian was that brought by Dorel Simion in 1998, also in Minsk, in the light welterweight – 63.5 kg category.
