Italy has a new government as of Tuesday, when the cabinet proposed by the new PM Enrico Letta, a representative of the centre-left Democratic Party won a second confidence vote in the Senate after the lower house confidence motion in his coalition government passed as easily on Monday night as expected. Among the new government’s priorities are economic recovery, creation of jobs, reinstating trust in public institutions and supporting investment rather than austerity measures.
