The European Commission is today adopting a directive trying to boost mobility and give an impetus to the free movement of workers in the EU. The directive is also meant to protect immigrant workers from abusive practices in the countries where they are employed. We recall that, after Romania and Bulgaria’s accession to the EU, in 2007, the free access of Romanian and Bulgarian citizens on the labour market of other EU member states has been temporarily restricted. Transitory limitations will be automatically and irrevocably lifted by December the 31st 2013.
