The Romanian PM Victor Ponta, who is interim justice minister, on Thursday announced he nominated Robert Cazanciuc, 41, for the position of justice minister of Romania. Robert Cazanciuc is, at present, a secretary general within the Foreign Ministry, and seconded prosecutor to the Public Ministry. The former justice minister, Mona Pivniceru, resigned last month after being validated by Parliament as judge to the Constitutional Court.
The Moldovan PM designate, Vlad Filat, is trying to gather support for the formation of a future cabinet. He has 2 weeks to form the government and to ask for Parliament’s vote of confidence. One of the former allies in the Alliance for European Integration, the Liberal Party continues to oppose the candidacy of Filat and warns of the risks of early elections. The government led by Vlad Filat was removed on March 5th after the Moldovan Parliament voted a censure motion filed by the Communist opposition, against the backdrop of the crisis in the pro-western alliance.
The Madrigal national chamber choir, a symbol of Romanian spirituality, marks Thursday 50 years of existence. Madrigal was set up by conductor Marin Constantin and included on the UNESCO Heritage List in 1992. To mark 50 years of existence the Madrigal Choir will give a series of concerts as part of a national tour. In 50 years Madrigal has given more than 4100 concerts in Romania and on famous stages from Europe and the US.
