The Sonisphere Festival was held in Bucharest at the weekend. A host of renowned heavy metal bands hit the stage. Manowar, Accept, Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax and Rammstein featured high on the festival list and brought together more than 100,000 spectators. Manowar and Accept kicked off the series of concerts as they performed on the first day of the musical marathon. Manowar, dubbed ‘’the kings of heavy metal’’, were given a majestic welcome from the public.
Accept, who boasts a very long heavy metal career, with more than 30 million albums sold, lived up to its success. The second day of the festival saw the performance of The Big Four, made up of Anthrax, Megadeth, Slayer and Metallica. The show opened with Anthrax, followed by the four Megadeth, at the peak of their energy, who fully confirmed their place in the heavy-metal’s first four classification. Slayer was one of the night’s most wanted performance, which outleashed the full force of sound.
Metallica was the highlight of the event, with its legendary ballads and special pyrotechnics – machine gun sound and fireworks. German group Rammstein performed on the Festival’s last day. This was the first time Rammstein had given a concert In Romania, and whipped the audience into a frenzy.
