New Dacia Models on the Romanian Market |
(2012-11-14) |
Last updated: 2012-11-14 15:33 EET |
The largest car-maker in Romania, Dacia Pitesti, owned by the French group Renault, on Tuesday launched in Bucharest three improved models – Logan, Sandero and Sandero Stepway. Renault hopes to capitalise on the success scored by Logan, a model that, since its launch in 2004, has sold over one million cars on 60 different markets across four continents. The new Logan is characterised as an accessible family car, with a fluid and elegant design. The re-stylised Sandero is described as a compact, city car, characterised by a modern design, while Sandero Stepway has been advertised as modern, dynamic and attractive. Prices start from 6,690 euros for Logan, 6,990 for Sandero and 12,000 Euros for Sandero Stepway.
As a first, the latest models use the new TCe and Diesel engines, which makes driving more pleasant and run on less fuel. According to their maker, Logan, Sandero and Sandero Stepway are also safer, due to the sideway airbags and the electronic stability control system. First introduced on the Lodgy and Dokker models, the Media Nav system is now also to be found on the new generation of Dacia cars. This system has an 18 cm wide touch screen, and includes, besides a radio, a Bluetooth system that allows passengers to listen to streaming radio and make hands-free calls.
There are also other improvements, such as the speed limiter and regulator, a park assist system, a rear park assist system, and a new EcoMode function, which contributes to more efficient fuel consumption. All the three models will be available in a short while on most Dacia markets in Europe and the Mediterranean area. They will be manufactured at the Mioveni car factory in Romania, but also in Morocco, which will be the door to the African markets. Dacia is the youngest, and according to some experts, also the most dynamic brand in Europe, with annual sales going up eight times between 2005-2011. According to official data, since 2005 until mid 2012, over two million cars were sold all over the world. For 2013, Dacia Renault is working on two new models, an estate car and a pick-up car.
