The band DJ Project won an award for being the most broadcast artists. The Bloggers were considered the best début band in 2009. The song Single Lady by Dj Layla feat. Alissa was the most played song on Radio Romania last year. The song Amazin performed by ‘Play and Win’ and Inna was chosen the best pop-dance song of the year. Inna also won the best pop-dance artist award. The song ‘Love me today, love me tomorrow’ by Andra was the winner of the best pop song award. Andra also received the best female singer award, while Tony Tomas won the best male singer award.
The best pop album award went to Paula Seling for ‘The Dream Collector’, while Vasile Seicaru won the best folk album award with ‘The linden tree town’ and ‘the Man with the Guitar’ award. The band Voltaj received two trophies at the Radio Romania Music Awards gala, one in the best pop-rock artist and another in the best pop-rock album category with their album ‘V8’. The best pop-rock song was ‘Dance for Two’ by the band Bere Gratis. Most of the award-winning artists performed live on stage, including younger artists such as Ion Moise Badulescu, Bloggers, DJ Layla and Dee-Dee and more established names like Iris and Nicolae Nitescu.
As with the last 4 editions, the gala ended with presentation of the song representing Romania in the Eurovision song contest, namely Paula Seling and Ovi and their song ‘Play with Fire’. The hosts of the Radio Romania Music Awards gala were Gianina Corondan and Bogdan Pavlica. The event was broadcast live on Radio Romania and Radio Romania International.
