June 26th is National Flag Day in Romania. Ceremonies are held in Bucharest, attended by representatives of civil, military and religious institutions, foreign military attaches, war veterans and military personnel in reserve. The King Ferdinand 1st National Military Museum is hosting the exhibition entitled “The History of the National Flag, 1830-2012”. The national flag with its current colors – red, yellow and blue, was first flown during the 1989 anti-Communist revolution.
Romania will contribute 3,390 troops to missions on foreign land in 2013, 246 troops less than in 2012. 2,377 troops will be deployed in theatres of operations and monitoring missions, while 1,013 will remain in the country, and can be deployed upon order, next year. In 2012, the Higher Defense Council ruled that the Romanian Interior Ministry will make available a number of 300 riot police and police officers to the EU, the OSCE and the UN.
The Romanian Parliament has ratified the Treaty under which Croatia becomes a EU member, as of July the 1st 2013.
Romania gives assurances that it will further promote the relation between the EU and the Black Sea Econimic Cooperation Organisation.
