She played works by Ravel, Enescu, Debussy and Chopin. She first appeared in Bucharest in 1964, when she won the Enescu festival piano competition, and returned three times afterwards as a concert pianist. Her concert on Thursday as part of the Chamber Music series, was a huge success.

Also on Thursday, the Bucharest Opera saw the first staging in Romania the Romanian version of Peter Ruzicka’s opera Celan conducted by the composer himself. The piece is inspired by the life of the poet Paul Celan, who was born in Chernowitz, in Northern Bukovina, and was the victim of a lot of persecution because of his Jewish origin. Ruzicka dedicated his opera to the victims of violence in 20th century. In the World Orchestras series, the Grand Palace Halll hosted a concert by the Radio Symphonic Orchestra from Bavaria, conducted by Mariss Jansons. The programme featured exclusively German works by Beethoven, Wagner, and Richard Strauss. The Radio Bavaria Orchestra was founded in 1949, and since then has become one of the finest music ensembles in the world. Since 2003, the orchestra has been conducted by Mariss Jansons.

The Small Palace Hall was the venue for a new concert in the series featuring classical themes in modern arrangement held by the trio Novikov-Unt-Melvin, who came to Bucharest with a project entitled Paintings on Schubert, Skriabin, Bacj, Ligeti and Ceaikoski. Ukrainian born pianist Viceslav Novikov, double bass player Toivo Unt from Estonia, and drummer Brian Melvin from the US used well-known classical works as a basis for endless jazz improvisations. They even have a CD with this type of music called Paintings.
