Ten Romanians have been injured today in the wake of a shuttle coach accident, nearby the town of Hollad in southwestern Hungary. The coach crossed the lane divider separating the two traffic ways and stopped on the motorway’s inner lane. This is the third road accident on Hungarian roads in which Romanian cars were involved. Yesterday, at least 14 people were wounded when a Romanian coach coming from Spain went off the lane and capsized nearby Szeged, in southern Hungary. On Monday, also in the south, five Romanians who were in a car registered in Spain died after a collision with a Romanian truck.
Romania's national football team yesterday night defeated Hungary, 1-nil, in a friendly game. The match was organized in memory of Romanian handball player Marian Cozma who was killed earlier this year in a club in the Hungarian city of Veszprem, where he was playing for the local team. We recall Romania is part of the 7th preliminary group of the 2010 World Championship, alongside Serbia, France, Lithuania, Austria and the Feroe Islands. Romania reaped only 5 points out of five games played, and its chances to qualify are only theoretical.
The five Romanian sailors, members of the crew on the Italian towboat Buccaneer kidnapped by Somali pirates in April are arriving in Rome today. Their families and members of the Romaian Embassy to Italy will welcome the five sailors. We recall that the tow boat Buccaneer with 16 people on board – ten Italians, five Romanians and a Croat- was captured in the Gulf of Aden. According to the Romanian Foreign Ministry Somali pirates have released all Romanian sailors.
