Galena crystal receivers were widely used in the early 1950’s mainly in the countryside. This reception system has two advantages: sound quality and no electric power consumption. The galena receiver is powered by the electromagnetic waves received by the antenna.
The “Radio Popular” Galena started being produced in 1950 by the Radio Popular receiver factory and it covered a wave length ranging from 200 to 2000 meters. It is similar to the Soviet model Komsomolet.
